EX-MÊKH is preparing for Platforms Project 2024. We thought about it earlier as you can see in our teaser. We will make an installation under the name on MÊKH- beach which will grow and dissolve again during the fair. This picture is from research we do on the materials we want to use.

EX-MÊKH summer-BBQ
Last friday EX-MÊKH organised it’s summer-BBQ on a beautiful summer evening. Plans for our coming exhibition at Platforms Project in Athens were elaborated and we start to realise that EX-MÊKH exists almost 20 years. We stayed out very late with a rather moderate but excellent meal and lots of wine!

Teasers
EX-MÊKH is preparing for the Hybrid Art Fair and experimenting with their materials. Here, by means of teasers, some try-outs by Kees Koomen who is looking for a interesting way to present his series of New Encounters. This theme is part of the Malieveld project in which the artist walks from his studio to the Malieveld. On the way there he gets intrigued by people he meets. Arriving on the Malieveld he describes these people and sends the description to himself. Once home, he paints what has seen and in oilpaint on stone paper. You can follos this project on Instagram under the name Malieveld invites:
Het Grote Aanschouwboek
On saturday December 2 Het Grote Aanschouwboek (The Big Aanschouwbook) was presented. In it is a survey of 22 years of De Aanschouw in the Witte de Withstreet in Rotterdam. De Aanschouw is the smallest art gallery in Rotterdam and in The Netherlands if I am not mistaken. This space used to be a display case on the front of a café, De Schouw. This place was situated opposite the building in which De Rotterdamse Courant had it’s offices. As soon as the newspaper went to the printer it was put in the display case and the editors went to De Schouw to have a beer and to discuss the contents of the new edition.
The presentation of Het Grote Aanschouwboek took place in a well filled auditorium in TENT. You can see an account of the happening here! In this book book all the exhibitions and artists are shown. Also documented are the weekly changes and the Overschilderschilderijen (overpaintpaintings) of which documentation is still available. We are happy to say that very few is missing. Edo Dijksterhuis wrote a history of De Aanschouw and collected anecdotes can also be found in the back of the book. The participation of EX-MÊKH can be found in it, including a poster of underground member Ben Faydherbe, responsible for the design of our publicity. An overpaint-painting of EX-MÊKH member Kees Koomen can also be found in the book. It’s graphic Design of bureau 75B is rather special for a relatively small book with no less than 1150 pages. The bureau developed it into a brickstone-account of a period of art and friendship!
Hybrid Art Fair
EX-MÊKH will participate in the Hybrid Art Fair in Madrid from Februari 24 to 27. The fair is held in a hotel in the centre of the city and participants are expected to exhibit in hotelrooms. We will present work under the name Con alma trying to give the neutral and functional hotelroom a soul, the soul of EX-MÊKH!
In the mean while publicity for participants is starting as you can see on this page!

EX-MÊKH has been working on a new site and after having great holidays in which we did some “woodshedding’ on the Veluwe we put the site on-line yesterday. All the exhibitions since 2014 are on the “exhibitions”-page, we will continue to work to get the exhibitions from 2006 onwards on the site.
Hybrid Art Fair
Last November EX-MÊKH was invited for the Hybrid Art Fair in Madrid. We already heard nice stories about this fair so we decided to apply. The fair is held in an old hotel in the centre of Madrid:
This Fair is also part of the side program of ARCO Madrid and the Madrid Art week
A new EX-MÊKH site!
After long deliberations, and because the surferspace for the old site was not available any more, we started to look for possibilities for a new site. The old software (Microsoft Frontpage) was long out of date and couldn’t be handled by the new versions of Microsoft anymore. So now we are trying to get this done, the new site is under construction.
